CEMIEEmotional Ecology Model

The Emotional Ecology Model from the International Institute of Emotional Ecology, originated in Barcelona, is an emotional education and management model that proposes understanding emotions as if they were part of an ecosystem. It was created by psychologists Mercè Conangla and Jaume Soler in 2002.

Modelo de Ecología Emocional
ecosistema emocional humano

What does this model propose?

The central idea is that emotions are energy and that each person must learn to manage them responsibly and sustainably, just as we care for the environment. According to this approach, the way we manage our emotions impacts us, others, and the social environment. That is why it speaks of a “human emotional ecosystem”.

In simple words:
If we manage our emotions well → the human ecosystem improves. If we manage them poorly → we generate “emotional pollution” (conflicts, stress, violence, etc.).

Objective of the Model

The model seeks to transform and direct emotional energyto achieve three things:

• Personal growth.
• Healthier relationships.
• A more balanced and ethical society.

The type of person it promotes (CAPA model)

Emotional Ecology proposes forming people called CAPA, which stands for:

Creative
Loving
Peaceful
Autonomous

That is, people responsible for their emotional world and aware of the impact of their actions on others.

Aspects it teaches to manage

The model works on four major emotional areas:

• Territories – our personal spaces and boundaries.
• Emotional energy – how we use our emotions.
• Emotional climate – the emotional environment we create.
• Bonds – the quality of our relationships.

Where is it applied?

This model is used in different areas:

• Education (schools and universities).
• Family.
• Health and wellness.
• Companies and organizations.
• Personal development.

The idea is that when the person improves, their entire environment improves.

✅ In summary:

Emotional Ecology is a model that teaches how to manage emotions consciously, responsibly, and ethically, understanding that every emotion we express has an impact on the “human ecosystem”.
